HI. I saw a post on here about a potterton myson 60e not firing up.
I have the same problem. The boiler makes all the right noises but doesn't ingnit. This can happen about 10 times before it ignites properly. The pilot light is NOT on all the time ( which was an issue in the other post) I have had it serviced before xmas and mentioned the problem, the engineer fiddled with the pressure switch and turned up the the temp control. The problem didnt go away and the times it takes to switch on has increased from about 3-4 times to about 10-12. I called him out again last week (no charge) and he fiddled again but i still have the problem.
Could the problem be the electronic control? Please help someone.

I have no idea whats wrong as I have not seen it.

Nor do we give DIYers advice on gas/combustion related issues.

It sounds as if you need a replacement engineer!

How come the other person davebtd who posted a topic/question in 2007 got advice? What is this forum for? am i missing the point if this website?

As already said you need someone that can repair boilers standing in front of your boiler, it could be several things but without testing its impossible to tell which one it is and no one is going to tell you how to test all the component parts of a boiler.

I appreciate what you are saying ... why doesnt the forum remove posts from years ago then and why have a topic for boilers if you can't give advice on them? :?

The topic title is Plumbing and Central Heating.

Old posts are left for people to search as most questions have been asked before.

If the engineer who came to you is unable to identify the problem then how on earth do you expect to be able to do it as a DIYer?

The only way for you to do it is to study to become gas registered and do an apprenticeship to gain experience on boiler repairs.

The engineer you engaged was unable to identify the issue so the only advice is to find another who hopefully can!
