Hi this is my first post and I would appreciate some advice on a problem I am currently having with the above boiler.

The Potterton netaheat 10-16 boiler sparks up and ignites the pilot when the hot water selector on control box (seperate) is switched on. The boiler however, will not fire up - there's a good pilot flame and the mercury sensor is well within this flame. The relay is new and the fan works well - no blockage etc.

The room thermostat is broken so the boiler won't fire when only the central heating control is used. Could this T-stat/control box be the source of my problem with the boiler firing up even when only the hot water selector is used.

Tried Corgi and would rather buy new combi than spend on gas valve etc. Could it be a simple wiring problem: pump or diverter valve etc???l

Can you still hear the 'ticking' of the ignition when the pilot is alight?

If not you need to test for 240v at gas valve terminals, at gas valve or control box.

If 240 there then looks like gas valve gone, not certain if you can still get them.

If no voltage then control board gone.

Be careful with these boilers they are positive pressure boilers..ie if you disturb the case seals you can end up pumping combustion products back into the room.. and can contain asbestos not really a job for a non corgi

If boiler trying to fire then not a room stat problem...I would be checking for voltage across gas valve or looking of a spark at the pilot and ticking as previously stated which would suggested control board.

I HAVE HAD A FEW OF THESE PROBLEMS ON MY TRAVELS AND CANT GET MANY SPARES FOR THEM THE HARDEST PART BEING THE GAS VALVE. NOBODY CAN GET THEM ANYMORE.
TIME TO MOVE ON I SUSPECT.

Thanks for all your great advice - will check the 240 but I expect I'll go and buy a new one!!!

Thanks for all your great advice - I'll check the 240 but will most probably end up getting a new boiler!
