Hi

I have recently had problems with the boiler which seem to have got worse.

Recently replace the PCB with the refurbished one. all working fine for a few days.

strangely the programmer had to be set hot water and central heating off for them to come on and we couldn't have one without the other. Seemed to work fine for a few days.

My father in law came to check all the wiring to see why it was like this but couldnt seem to find the answer. He came back yesterday to fit a new junction box in the airing cupboard as the old one is small and packed with wires. When he was round the boiler didnt seem to light up at all.

The pilot light came on and the green light flashed constantly for a few second and went out, did this twice more and went out completely. After a few attempts and playing about with the valve actuator it came on.

This morning the boiler again failed to come on with the same pilot light coming on and going straight out again. But again after a few attempts it came on.

My partner told me that the boiler didn't come on when she tried to turn it on earlier so left it for me to play with when i got in from work. Same lighting and going out with green rapid flashing light. But i cannot get it to work at all. I have been told that maybe the actuator to the valve is faulty and causing this problem.

I think there may be an issue with the fact that the programer isnt on when we want it on and may not be sending signals to the pump, valve or thermostats?

Has anyone had this experience or know what may be the problem?

There could be all sorts of problems with your controls and a seperate problem with the boiler.

Whilst you can try to follow/check the system wiring yourself you should not be trying to do a DIY repair to your boiler with that ignition/combustion fault.

It does not have a pilot light!

Hi Tony

Thanks for your reply, don't worry i am not touching anything to do with the boiler.

My biggest puzzle is the fact that it has been firing up even this morning but why it will not now.

When i mentioned the valve before i meant my three port central heating valve not anything within the boiler itself.

When you say it does not have a pilot light, what did you mean or was it down to my lack of knowledge and its not actually called a pilot light?
