House built 1999 - Potterton Suprima 60 boiler. When the red light flashes (ie needs attention) the reset button is to be pressed. (The Thermostat is turned up requesting heat). The boiler goes thru igniting process (tick tick tick) and then either fires up and heating works OR doesnt ignite at all and goes back to flashing red OR fires up for seconds and cuts out back to flashing red. It may take 6 or more flashing red to not firing at all to eventually fire up and stay on (or i giv up for a bit and have no heating).

Sounds like the ignition/detection lead needs a little tlc; when did you last have it serviced?
