Can someone shed any light on why my power shower pump requires a number of attemps to turn of when the tap is turned off, i have to turn the dial a dozen times or so before it will shut down, no water comes through, just the pump noise.

Its a new team 55 jetstream
I think i have run it dry, i want to fit a new one, i think it is 1.5 bar, not sure, what do i replace it with, i want to try something different. I took it apart,could not see anything obvious. i have a hot and cold feed in the loft, with a good header, unfortunately the hot water is in the tank in the landing, so i have removed the pump and am currently using gravity, but not enough pressure for a top end Mira shower.
Will any pump work
