Hello to all

I am new here and in all honesty not plumbing savvy - at all.

We had to have the pump replaced by British Gas recently. The reason is that the old pump started to fail due to a lot of sludge in the system.

The pressure in our boiler - Potterton Promax Condensing boiler - keeps dropping a lot. So we keep filling it alot. The BG engineer inspected the overflow pipe (Outside the house) and found water came out of it.

He said, if water comes out of the overflow pipe, then this suggests there is no leak in the system, as the water would otherwise escape through the leak. He also said that when they drained the system to replace the failing pump, they noticed alot of muck in the water. He recommended we carry out a powerflush.

I was wondering if any of you lot, with your long experience can recommend someone in Middlesex, I am in postcode TW7 to carry out the powerflush. I understand it will cost £350 to £550 depending on size ...etc.

We have 10 radiators in the house, and the boiler is a Potterton Promax condensing boiler and sealed system.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you all

Try looking in the FAQs item 5.

You could add a system cleanser, then flush out yourself and then add a Magnaclean filter to your system.

Cost you less than £150 if you do it yourself. :D
