I know this boiler has been talked about quite a bit in other threads and the FAQ, but I'm still not entirely sure on the process to follow for my situation, hopefully someone can help...
I've just got access to a flat I've bought. It was a repossession so everything was turned off and drained down.
I've now got all my utilities back on now and the water seems to be working fine. Last on the list is the boiler.
I had a quick try firing it up last night, but I'm thinking I should have got some guidance first!
Firstly I tried refilling it using the silver hose connection. I left this running for a few minutes (don't know how long this should take, and how to tell when it's full).
I then tried to start it up. Power on at the mains, then switched rocker to 'constant'. This tries for a couple of minutes before the 'lock out' light comes on. I tried this several times.
After doing a bit reading up I'm assuming that I need to re-pressurise the system (I should note that the gauge was at the bottom). I just thought I'd see if someone could tell me the process I need to go through before I start.
For the repressurising I gather I just need to take a bicycle pump to the valve? How do I know when I've raised the pressure enough?
Do I need to refill anymore? Should this be done before or after I re-pressurise?
Any other steps I need to take?
Any advice appreciated!
I understand I must sound like a bit of an idiot messing about with this, however I'm loath to pay a callout charge for something which seems like it should be fairly simple.
Many Thanks,
Geoff
