pregnant wife unable to have a hot bath --- please help!

Woke up this morning to find that the light on the fused connection unit is off. The immersion heater it controls is not working either. Strangest of all is that the on/off switch on the FCU is now fixed in the on position. Ive tried changing the 13A fuse on the FCU but that did not work.

Any ideas friends? Shes about 2 weeks away from birth and relies on the bath like Ive never seen...

OK folks - just discovered the problem - some joker viewing our flat last night had switched off the wall mounted DP switch. Having switched it on the immersion heater has started up again. HOWEVER the fused connection unit light is still out and the on switch is still locked in the on position.

Any thoughts? Worth a worry?

this suggests that the switch itself has failed.

it seems strange that you have both a switched FCU and a DP switch for the same appliance.

The neon on fcu often fails without warning, does not affect its operation, the switch may have collapsed inside or even welded itself due to shorting and high amp load, needs replacing.
