Hi,

I'm having the walls and ceilings in one room skimmed by a plasterer. The walls and ceiling used to have thick wall paper on which I removed with a chemical wall paper stripper solution.

What do I need to do to get the walls in the best state for the plasterer, I have already patched the big holes and rubbed down, do I only need to wash the walls down now with Sugar Soap or is there anything else I should do ? Regarding the sugar soap wash down can I do that the day before the plasterer comes or should I do it a couple of days before.

Also if only skimming should I remove the skirting and get behind there skimmed.

Would ask my plasterer but he is away on holiday until the day before he comes to mine.

Cheers :D

We asked our plasterer what prep he'd like us to do prior to skimming. He said wash the walls with a very mild solution of "any old cleaning fluid" (we used Flash) a minimum of 24 hours beforehand and air the room thoroughly.
