Prep wall for new appliances

I'm having some new appliances installed in a few days and the condition of the wall and floor after removing the old appliances is filthy!

What's the best way to prep the wall behind appliances? Would a quick scrub and a coat of waterproof emulsion be fine?

I presume you have a bit of condensation mould there. If so, wash off with a mild bleach solution to kill the spores, rinse and use a good quality kitchen/bathroom paint and it should be fine.
You could use an anti-condensation paint if it's pretty bad though.
