pressure keeps dropping in combi boiler

Hi there

The pressure on our combi boiler keeps dropping. We re-pressurise in the normal way but it falls again quite quickly. The central heating is not being used at the moment. There are gurgling noises in the boiler when hot water taps are used - and this is when the pressure drops most noticeably - suggesting a connection there! Is this URGENT - it's Bank Holiday tomorrow!

Any advice will be appreciated, thanks, as always.

Boiler is a Grant Vortex Combi, fitted only 3-4 years ago and serviced annually.

Refill boiler to approx 1 bar cold. Light boiler.
Check for any leaks from the pressure relief pipe (one going out through
the wall. Any drips indicate a faulty pressure relief valve.
If the pressure climbs quickly once switched on to 3 bar your expansion
vessel in the boiler need pumping up or has failed.

Other possibility is you have a leak in your central heating pipework.

Worst case you have a leak inside the boiler.

If you require an "Urgent" repair why not call the Service Comapny that have regualrly Serviced it?

cause of pressure loss may be a leaking AAV on top of the boiler, a flooded expansion vessel, or a leak somewhere on the system, (just because the central heating is not on dosen't mean there is not a leak on a radiator or pipe somewhere)

Hi. How often are you repressurising?
Are there any obvious signs of a leak in boiler and/ or on your rads/ pipe work?
If not then check that your expansion vessel has not lost its charge. If it has then it will have to be repressurised and/or replaced.

Thanks everyone! We shall definitely be calling the people who service it on Tuesday - if not before. I will go and check on radiators etc. There doesn't appear to be any wetness that I can see inside the boiler housing.
