.My usual heating engineer is on sick leave. I've had my 14 year old ish Worcester Greenstar certified as safe by a new guy but he didn't finish servicing it because:

" Expansion vessel and pressure relief failed and boiler needs full strip down service"

He has quoted for " Full strip down service including new electrodes and seals
and to supply and fit new expansion vessel and pressure relief valve" £720 inc VAT

Is this reasonable? Sounds like a lot to me.

A service is time and material. £720 seems a figure plucked from air, I could be wrong.

You may as well put that £700 odd towards a new boiler. Regardless of its reasonable or not.

The expansion vessels & PRVs on some Greenstars are a bit of a pig to do but that's still rather a lot of money for the job.

so did he attempt to pump up the expansion vessel or just say it needs changing
720 is pure pish take wait for your normal guy

Don't know what he did. I'm getting a second opinion next week.
