:? Hi I'm new to this website and forum so firstly hello,i also apologise if this query is slightly long but you do state to put as much info down as possible, i(well me and hubby) have been having problems with our boiler.
We have got a worcester bosch 280 combi boiler and a few days a go my hubby took the air out of some of the radiators upstairs that were cold at the top but i said to him you need to take water out as well don't you.Well the air came out,no water, and obviously the gauge for the air went down to almost 0 bar,(it had only been at about 5-6 bar before) we now have to locate the filling loop so we can put the air back in, which i found out info about from another part of this website.
Does anyone out there in diynot.com land come across one of these boilers as i would like to see if we can sort the problem by ourselves before we have to call the professionals in as it will be muggins here(me the wife)that'll be having to ring round for someone.
thank you in advance for any replies

Look in the FAQs on how to repressurise your boiler ( item 6 )and come back if you need to. :D

:? Thank you for reply my husband is looking under the kitchen work top as that's where the silver filling hoop was(behind the washing machine oh joy!)i'm not even attempting to look at what hubby is doing as to apprehensive,he read some of the info that we found fro the link if he doesn't feel confident enough to do it then i'm calling out someone :)

Its easy enough.

Just open the valve until the pointer on the boiler reaches 1.

Then turn off and disconnect. :D

that will be a nice night rate for someone. just to open filling loop.
2mins at about £85. nice

We do that for free over the telephone!

In fact we repair about 20% of the faulty boilers telephoned to us by giving free advice over the phone.

Todays was resetting the water pressure on one and resetting the ignition lockout on another!

:? We didn't call anyone out,but when we looked under the work top there was the filling loop in a u shape, then there were various different valves small and large valves, we would need a flat screwdriver to move them, also there were mentions of dvc valves or something. Also when there are different valves and a person is not totally sure which valve is for what then it's a bit like a lucky dip as to which one you move then you feel apprehensive about messing up the whole boiler system especially when we are not made of money

Have you done it then?
Screwdriver slots need to go in line withthe pipe to turn the valves on. Stop part way with the filling so you know they work.
There may be one bit with a small hex on it - you don't need that one.

Have a go. the worst that's likely to happen is a slight dribble (husband??) or weep (you??). Either way, it's only water, it washes off :D

We need a better pic or three in the faq section...
