Hi, have today replaced a 3 way valve as it was faulty. Drained the CH system and re-filled and CH works really well after bleeding all rads but HW not working well at all. The return pipe from the tank is stone cold so I assume I've got an air block in the circulation system. Have bled the system from by the boiler as much as I can but still no joy. Was expecting a bleed valve by the expansion tank, being the highest point but there isn't.

How do I therefore get the air out of the HW system, will it just eventually work it's way out or is there another way to bleed the air out. BTW pump's working fine as is new 3 way valve. The pump is noisy on and off though with the air rushing through it from time to time.

Could be a blockage in the open vent pipe.

Is F& e tank full of water?
