My boiler won't work for central heating. It comes on, then there sounds like a flow of water and it turns off straight away

When you turn on the hot water, it lights up and heats the water but not a light for the heating. I am about to take a hammer to it, but until then can anyone say whether it is really past it? Its only 4 years old!
there is also a pipe outside where hot water is flowing out of and the pipes keep banging!!
Anyone?
