Problem with Whirlpool washing machine

Hi,

I have a problem with a Whirlpool AWO/D 45433 washing machine.

The problem is when we start the wash cycle only a bit of water enters the machine, then towards the end of the cycle the full amount of water comes in (at the point when the conditioner cycle starts)

We have brought this back from Spain to the UK.
There is only one water socket, so we connected it to cold.

Does anyone know of a common solution to this problem?

Does the machine show an error code? (a repeating series of flashes on the green start LED). If it does count the number of flashes between pauses.

There is no error message during the spin or at any point during the cycle.
