l am having this problem with the curtain pole which keeps coming off. Its a new build house with plaster board, insulation and then brick wall ( I think) I first fixed the curtain pole fixings with a wall plug and screw after drilling with a drill and this came off in about a month leaving a hole. I then tried with Black and Deckers metallic plugs which opens once the screw in it is tightened, this too came off in about a month leaving a much bigger hole.
I have no idea what I should do next. Suggestions will be most helpful.

Have you drilled into the brick?
Sounds as though you are trying to fix the plug into only the plasterboard.
Use a longer screw.

Thank you for your advice. I have used a screw which is about 1.5 inches, what do you think will be an ideal length?
