Last year I had some work carried out on my house. This resulted in the bath and sink waste pipes being connected into the same exit pipe out of the house. The problem is that exit pipe runs for about 3 feet before exiting into the drains (all enclosed). When I pull the plug on the bath it stuggles to empty as the sinks has air pushed back into it and it starts to gurgle. I think the whole system is struggling for air to keep it moving. Can anyone confirm and what can I do to solve it. Thanks

Water from the bath is trying to suck water out of the sink trap due to flow causing reduction in pressure /relative vacuum, hence gurgling.

Solution is to fit an anti-vac trap to sink

Thanks for the advice. I've had a look at the anti-vac traps - am I better off using a bottle trap on the sink, and are they easy to fit?
