I've recently had a programmable stat fitted in a property which is likely to remain empty for a few weeks during cold weather. Rather than let the place go completely cold I would like to keep it at around 12-15 deg.

On the stat I could do either of these:

1. Set it to continuous "on" with a set point of 15 deg.

2. Set to "off" with the frost setting uprated to 15 deg (which is possible).

Which would be best? Would the second one work? It's one of the Plumb Center RF stats which they are doing at a good price at present. Almost identical to a Honeywell but 1/3 the price.

No. 1 rather than change default settings which you may forget to change back later
