I have a small kitchen and nowhere to put my fridge/freezer except next to the cooker. Can anyone recommend a heat insulation panel that I can place between them. My fuzzy memory seems to recall reading about this in the past but maybe I made it up

I only have a ground floor flat but you never know, maybe oneday I'll want to send my fridge to the moon :D

I don't think insulation is necessary, both appliances have 'air' insulation between the innards and the decorative side panels.

does the fridge freezer extend above the top of the rings on the cooker!!!!!

if it does is the fridge or the freezer at the top!!!!!

Hi there, I had this problem once and made a buffer using similar materials to the present kitchen units - about two inches wide and that became the support for the worktop. So, you had the free-standing cooker, then the end of the worktop under which was this "unit" supporting it, then the fridge. The heat never got through it.
All depends on the space available and what actually supports the worktop in it's present position.
Good luck

I think there is a requirement for either a 300mm space or worktop either side of a cooker hob so there's somewhere for the heat from the hob to go around the pans without scorching anything either side, somewhere to point the pan handles out of the way, and somewhere to slide a hot and heavy pan sideways in an emergency etc. (well, maybe 'emergency' is a bit of a strong term, but you don't really want to hang onto a hot pan for longer than necessary)

I don't know if it is a safety requirement or just a desirable design feature. If it is a requirement it could snooker things if your fridge is higher than your cooker hob.

As far as insulation between cooker and fridge... Common sense suggests they aren't ideal bed partners, but do the sides of your cooker get warm when it's in use?
Our kitchen just has a unit carcass between the integrated oven and the fridge, with no noted ill effects on the fridge.
