I am putting wood preserver, then stain,. on the timbers of my carport. The roof timbers mean I will be working overhead. The preservative is thin as water, and solvent-based with harmful chemicals.

Is there a way to prevent it running down the brush and my arm?

I use a hand pump spray much easier holds a few liters screwfix sell them less time than a brush.

Wear long sleeves and put rubber gloves on.
I only normally experience this problem with water based so just get on with it.
