Just wondering if someone can help. I'm installing a new light in the shower. Basically, I'm replacing the shaver light with another light. I've connected everything and it all worked fine. However, when I try to switch the lights off at the wall the ceiling light switches off, but not the new light.

I know this is because the shaver light worked with a pull-cord. So I have two options. Either re-wire (which is not an option), or somehow use the pull-cord mechanism in the shaver light to convert the new light to a pull-cord light. The wires from the wall is the standard 3, live, neutral and earth. The pull-cord mechanism has 3 brown wires.

Can someone let me know if this will be possible to do, and if so, how do I connect the wires. It looks like one of the brown wires in the pull-cord mechanism was not used at all....

Thanks in advance.

Hi good evening I have a pull cord switch light in my bathroom I a council flat I live in the downstairs flat my neighbour above must have let her bath or sink overflow as their bathroom is directly above mine as the flats are semi,s and have the same room configuration layout. water had leaked through the wooden rafters and floorboards in to my ceiling. And my pull switch cord I managed to uncscrew the switch cord body and light and drain the water out it has been working OK for the last week or so and the pull cord has just seized up is this the copper contact points on the switch body inside it that has seized up as now it won't turn on or off although the switch is still live.

Water can cause rust. Or dirt to move around.

If you’re good at that sort of thing, you can remove the switch and take it apart and give it a clean with water and fairy.

See if that helps Or will just confirm u need a new switch
