Hi, I have a Puma 80e boiler that is losing pressure. It started with losing 1bar over a period of a day, but now losses 1 bar in about 4 hours. I have replaced the pump, fan, circuit board, and the prv. No water is dripping from the overflow attatched to the prv. Any ideas anybody?

well if it isnt comming from the prv, or a leak inside the boiler, it must be from a leak on the system.......
Expansion vessel problem.......check it.
How can it POSSIBLY be the expansion vessel? We're told the pressure DROPS gradually over a few hours. If the vessel was punctured, the pressure would first RISE as the system heated up, the PRV would open and vent pressure, and THEN the pressure would DROP when the boiler cooled.
It's a leak under the floor!
PS If it was anything except a Puma, I'd suggest isolating the boiler to double-check - but the isolators are such rubbish they always leak after being used!

Hi, its not the expansion vessel as far as I can tell, it has air pressure. I am not losing any water outside of the boiler becuase all the pipes are above ground. The overflow is high up on the outside of the building. I have also put a board underneath the prv pipe to see if it gets wet, it does not. I dont know if it is pushing water out through the pipe, I am just unable to catch it in the process. I have a plumbing friend and it has him stumped too.
If your expansion vessel is pre-loaded correctly (sounds like it is), to lose 1Bar of pressure in 4 hours means that in that time between 1 and 2 litres of water has gone somewhere.
Your boiler does not have a secondary HX, which means no way out there (and in any case such a fault means pressure rise in most cases).
So are you absolutely certain there's no visible leak?
If you above ground floor, is it an apartment? What about the ceilings of the apartment below? Any vertical service ducts with an inspection hatch you can get open?
Another question: if you set the pressure to 1 with the boiler cold, what pressure does it RISE to when the boiler gets hot?

Hi, it was the heat exchanger. I think it was losing it little by little and evaporating or through steam, maybe it was dumping via the overflow but I could never catch it. Yesterday it went big time, was dripping water from the inside big time. Thanks for trying.
