Hi there,Any info would be much appreciated, had a new central heating pump fitted just over 13 months ago, been fine until about 4 days ago.it has started to make a "whistling sound ",first couple of days not too bad only did it for about 20 minutes when heating was switched on then would stop,but.......it is getting worse ,we normally run the pump on the second notch if you know what I mean, very noisy...no. 3 unbearable even switched on the first notch it is annoying, it is now making this whistling noise when heating is off !!!!!! Rang a plumber and was told "sounds like the driveshaft is going, new pump needed WHAT!!!! its only 13 months old for gods sake...the previous one we had for 12 YEARS.... until it started playing up. Is this the average life span of a pump these days? or were we fitted with a duff and just unlucky in which case what pump is a good pump and last us more than 13 months? Any advice? Yours Carol xxxx

Sorry about the inquisition, but...

Have you bled the radiators and the pump?

If that doesn't fix it try 1 (that's ONE) drop of washing up liquid on the shaft of the pump. Pumps should last decades in a clean system.

How clean is your system?

Let's sort these points first and think some more if that doesn't work.

Thanks for your reply oilman, will give this a go and let you know.Yours Carol xx
