May be a daft question for all the experts out there, but should the pump on my boiler get as hot as the rest of the system? I can't touch it and keep my hand on it as it is too hot. The reason I ask is that the boiler trips out after 20-25 minutes of starting up from cold and then comes back on after exactly 3 minutes. It repeats this cycle every 5 minutes, on and off for 3 minutes, then back on for another 5 minutes. I was told it could be something to do with the pump overheating. Any help will be gratefully received!

Thanks for that combispecialist! Put my mind at rest. Any ideas as to why my boiler keeps tripping out so frequently, even before room has reached set temperature on Digistat temperature gauge? Flame icon on Digistat still visible when boiler trips out suggesting the room it is in hasn't reached set temperature. Flame does eventually go off gauge and assume room has reached the set temperature.

Sounds to me like your boiler is working just right.
Even if your roomstar is calling for heat the flame in the boiler will light and go out controled by the heating stat on your boiler which is controlling the temp of the water going round your heating system-ie the temp of your radiators.
The roomstat is measuring room temp and turns the heating off when the room air temp is warm enough.

Thanks for your reply! I feel more confident now and did think it was normal but needed someone to confirm it for me and you did just that! Cheers!
