Hi,

I have a symptom that has just started happening with my central heating pump. When running, the pump stops and then starts again about 2-3 seconds later on a regular basis - anywhere between every 5 - 10 minutes. It does not appear to do this when the system first kicks in in the morning, usually takes an hour or so before it starts. Apart from this it appears to be working fine and is not making any 'i'm think i might be about to pack up' type noises!!

The other thing to throw in here is that i have a Potterton Suprima 70 boiler that had the lockout problem - B.Gas repalced the circuit board 2-3 weeks ago and that side of it has been fine since. I think that is when the pump issue started.

Any thoughts - is it likely to be the pump (not covered by maint. contract) or boiler (covered) or something else?

Thanks
Simon

Are you quite sure the BG cover does not include the pump?

Whilst it may not cover problems with the radiators I thought they did include the pump in with the boiler ( because most boilers include the pump inside it anyway).

As Softus says, its most likely to be the PCB.

A simple test would be to rewire the pump to a mains lead and plug with 3A fuse and power it from a socket for a day or two.

Very rarely pumps can go open circuit when they get hot.

Just checked my maintenance details, you are correct. I have Homecare 200 which covers whole heating system. I'll get them out again.

Thanks
