I want to pump mains cold and vented hot water to a thermostatic mixer (long story, water tank too small and I cant afford to replace it or go with a vented cylinder)

Just been told by Salamander helpline that I can do this using this :-

Is that correct ? - I thought you couldn't pump mains cold ?

Cheers.

The link to the literature you have provided states:

Normally the cold mains goes direct to the mixer and just the hot water side is pumped.

There is provision to increase domestic mains water to a higher pressure/flow,there are many limitations and any outlet on that line needs to be correctly selected and installed, that includes having a shower mixer that will mix with the unbalanced pressure/flow to a suitable temperature.

Its do able, whats your budget ?

Test your cold mains for flow and pressure - You can only pump the mains up to a max of 12L/Min and a raise the pressure to around 1.5bar. If you mains is at this level or above then the mains could not be pumped.

Thanks for the replies. I've decided swallow the cost and go for a bigger water tank - too variables for anything else.

Cheers.
