went to a job yesterday to replace a mono block mixer,,,to make it easy-er i removed a HEP2 o tee by unscrewing the gray nut when i touched the grap ring it just fell to bits ,, the body was perfect the nut was good just the green grap ring ,,, i removed the tee and an elbow,,,, thinking it was just one defective ring but they were all the same they had crumbled even the stainless steel grips had almost corroded away,,, i don't know how thay were holding ,,, as they were not leaking,,, any one come across this befour????????????

Was T below sink?, may have had bathroom cleaners dribble into it causing corrosion?

yes it was under kitchen sink,,, its a likely reason ,, the tee was vertical and all 3 green rings crumbled in my hand,,, almost to dust,, it made me think how easy it would be to do a job and then latter a fitting blows off,, would not look good on the plumber,,, its the first time ive seen it,, and it would be easy to miss
