How do you put new joists into existing brick pockets ? The pocket is the size of the joist that’s already in. It has gone rotten. How do you put new joists in without hangers or ledgers ?
If you need a whole joist, then its limited by the pocket, is there a cavity at either end you can slide the joist into, you will need to chop a brick out below the pocket to get the angle to push the joist into. But a joist only rests on a single brick width,
If you don't have a cavity then is a split joist, personally a would put the split as close to one wall as possible. , if you don't want plates then sister the joist up either side, lap joint the middle fix with glue and screw or use a timber connector and bolts. connectors look like double spike rings.
