Qualified to fit alarms?

Do you actually need to be qualified to do any of the wiring for alarms?

Talking more about the panel and sensors/bells etc, assuming that a suitable person has provided the 240v connection... not the fact that it cant be registered for insurance etc...

No. There is a requirement to have it installed and maintained professionaly for some things, such as the grading of the alarm, but you don't have to be qualified to fit alarm cabling and equipment per se.
