Quarry Tile Floor

Is there any simple way of removing vinyl tiles and more importantly their adhesive from a quarry tile floor.

will a wire brush work? try it on a small area, not sure if it scours the tiles? Failing that what about a steamer (like a wallpaper steamer)?

Does anybody remember who made Cardinal Red floor Polish? Was it Lever Bros, Reckitt & Coleman?? I suppose they stopped making it because flooring changed completely. If anyone knows where there is a possibility it can be obtained, I would be obliged if you could let me know. Many thanks - Christine.
