Banking with Santander (never had much more than an occasional minor glitch which have always been resolved) over the last few years, it has been my experience that the 1 hour time difference seems to have been advantageous in that money/wages appears in my account before midnight.

Is this normal for UK banks or are Santander customers benefitting from the Spanish connection?

Santander UK and Santander Santander Spain are different companies and use different IT infrastructure, so whilst the payments maybe time aligned with each other, they are not dependent on each other.

Santander is consistently voted the worst for customer service of all the UK banks. I wouldn't know from experience as I've never banked with them.
