Recently i lit my parkray which feeds a back boiler and rads upstairs and down, i then forgot to switch on the central heating pump and during the day i noticed that the upstairs rads were boiling hot much more than usual and the water was piping hot again much more that usual from the bathroom and the kitchen taps, yet the downstairs rads were stone cold also the fire seemed to be roaring away and it was not that windy either(no matter which setting i had it on)later on in the day i switched on the washing machine and not much later than that all these weird loud noises started coming from the loft so i went up there and saw that the smaller water tank was steaming hot there was water still in it, enough to keep the ball cock afloat, when the next lot of noise happened piping hot water splashed and sluttered out of the tank and the pipes were shaking banging and vibrating, does anyone out there think that it was my fault and that i will now have to buy a new pump, should i have turned on the ch pump sooner, as when i tried later when things were looking and sounding pretty bad i tried to switch the pump on and i couldn't hear it working like i can usually, please would someone advise me as to what could be wrong or any other comment as i am a mere woman and have no knowledge of plumbing(shame on me as my dad was a plumber)Please please help, Thank you.

Hopefully the tank in the loft is metal and not plastic.

The pump should circulate the water around the radiators and not be necessary in the hot water only.
What you need to do is check why the fire didn't shut back on the damper, probably got a lump of coke stuck init.

sounds like the thermostat on the fire aint working and you should get your pump checked out.also ask the engineer if theres a pipe stat fitted. if not , get one fitted.
