Question/ clarification on re-pressurising boiler

On #2 of the FAQ:

it mentions that it is
IMPERATIVE that water or air is allowed to escape from the heating system as it is pumped out of the PV
How do you ensure this?

Also, I had a problem back in Feb this year with the expansion vessel:

I should have posted the fix but never got round to it but I ended up getting hold a replacement schraeder valve and a valve kit from halfords. Total cost about £5.....
Hope that may help save someone some money

How do you ensure this?

leave the drain valve open on the system or the boiler depending how you drain it ;)
