I'm sorry if this has been asked/discussed before but I'd just like to ask if you need your C+G 2391 to be able to test your own + others work or do you just need to be competent (ie: know what you're doing, interrupting results but not necessarly having your 2391)

Sorry if this has been asked before, just need other people's points of veiw.

You need to be competant.Having 2391 does not necessarily mean you are, as you could have fluked the exam, but it is a recognised way of showing you should be.

The 2391 is for people who are already carrying out and have experience with Inspection, Testing and Certification of electrical systems, not for a baseline for starting out.
There is information for the comptetnce of the inspector in GN3 (and was also one of the exam questions last week!!)
