Lor: If it does not cause the whole system to go live, is this why the fuse/mcb did not pop?

the idea is that all pipes are at the same voltage as ground, by earthing the pipes. if the pipes are at the same potential as earth you wont get a shock

No one got zapped, i noticed that he had wired the pump in incorrectly, by which time, he was scrtaching his head trying to suss what was wrong, when i told him what he had done, he rectified it.
