Hi guys,
Looking a product to level out a sand cement rendered wall so that it can be tiled within 2-3weeks. Probably a variance of 4-8mm to take out, have a plasterer on site so was going to get him to "skim" it flat.
Im told sand and cement or skim needs 6 weeks before tiling. Im planning on doing the tiling over Xmas. Also as it only a skim, sand cement might not be thick enough to retain strength.
Rang all building and tile yards in a 30mile radius and none of them have heard of quickset render . One made enquires and can order it but its a minimum order of a ton lol.
Any alternatives? I dont need the 2hr performance of the quickset but anything else is 6weeks from what i can see.
Plasterer suggested a mix of SBR, rapid setting cement and plastering sand. He rekoned this would go on thin enough and be well set by Xmas and with the SBR it should retain a good bond to existing render.
Cement based tile adhesive is an option but the plasterer isnt keen on using it.
Cheers Neil
