Had a trawl through the threads regarding banging radiators and couldn't quite find the answer to the same problem.
The bedroom radiator emits a startling bang when either heating up or cooling down. At first I thought it may have been missing bracket insulators. However before I started to remove the radiator I just removed the top and side covers. This seems to have cured the problem. I've checked the other radiators in the house and none have washers on the point where they slide over the base of the radiator. I've seen some radiators that do have these. I would like to replace the covers if only for aesthetic reasons. Has anyone any suggestions. Silicone grease etc.?
