Hi i have been asked a question at work by someone with a problem and i dont have an answer,
He has recently had a radiator fitted in the conservatory it is in plastic pipe and it is directly behind the radiator in the living room.
He says either 1 gets hot and the other is cold or vise verser he cant get them both to be hot
any ideas appreciated

if they both have thermostatic valves then the symptoms would make sense.

I would start by trying to get them both hot when each has the thermo valve set on max or even better the thermo head removed. I would alter the lockshield valve on the new rad until it gets hot.

He said he has messed about with the lockshield and he can get it hot but only one or the other its like 1 is starving the hot water from the other 1

it might be u need to close down some of the other rads , using the lockshields so as to force more water to these 2

is it microbore ?

First of all it is now against partl to fit a rad in conservatory unless it is deemed to be part of house ie no door between house & conservatory but i bet he has connected into 8mm pipes which will not carry enough flow to warm 2 rads unless very small

the bc i saw the other day said its ok but has to have a trv ?
