Hi There,

Could anyone help shed some light on the following issues that i'm experiencing with my radiators. I live in a large block of flats where the heating is supplied by a communal boiler so there are at least 50 radiators on the system. I happen to live on the top floor of this building and am getting quite a few problems with my radiators which are the cast iron concertina type radiators. the problems are as follows.

1. The bottom third of all the radiators are cold even after bleeding.
2. None of the TRV valves seem to work on the radiators they are either on or off. (I've been told in the past that concertina type radiators have this problem but, am not sure).
3. The Bathroom towel rail has to be bled several times a day.

If anyone could help with any of these issues I would be very grateful as these problems have plagued me for well over a year now and i'm getting sick of it.

many thanks,

Greyham

Sounds like there could be sludge in the system and constant bleeding of radiators could be the corrosion process taking place and releasing Hydrogen.

As you are the top flat then any air problems will always be worse in your radiators.

Have you had the heating engineers in to check it out?
