Take a valve off the radiator, and re-fit it to the end of the pipe?

If you have 8mm pipework, and can't find an 8mm stop end, maybe a 8 - 10 reducer and a 10mm stop end woulld get you out of trouble.

Its usuall to leave the valve on pipe and just break joint from the tail in rad. ( the valve will be 2 pieces, 1 screwed into rad the other fitted onto pipe end.) That way the water is locked in the system whilst you decorate or whatever.
