Radiator size offering maximum heat

I want to replace a single radiator that is 1.34 wide and 520 high . The place I want to fix a new unit is 820 wide and floor to ceiling height . What would be the largest radiator I could fit that would give me equal or ideally more output than the existing old one . The position is in a hall way so didn’t really want to go with a designer type ( tall up the wall) radiator . Can you get a suitable sized radiator that has a very high heat output. ? I appreciate output is dependant on flow and water temperature , but just getting suggestions of the best alternatives to consider. We have just had a new boiler fitted recently (Viessman) so flow rates and heat is good .

Why can't you just fit a double radiator, the same dimensions you already have. it would seem to be a lot easeier than altering pipework for a larger one

Yes, just get a Type 22 double panel, double convector radiator of the same width as your current one. You still have freedom to make the height bigger if you want to. Steer clear of "designer" radiators - you'll struggle to get more heat out of them unless they are huge.

Your existing rad, assuming it is a convector, will have an output of roughly 1100 watts.
A 600 x 700 double convector will have an similar output.

I'd assumed that, when the OP said he had a "single radiator", that this meant it was a non-convector, single panel one. But I guess he could have meant he only had one radiator he wanted to replace.
Perhaps the OP could clarify?

To Clarify : the radiator in place is a single panel radiator

The reason it’s not being replaced with a same size double in its existing position is because the space is needed to fit an inverter and storage battery . Trust this clarifies .

I had a 3.5 kW Myson fan assisted radiator in the last house, and it did work well, and was compact. But this was before the condensate boiler.

There are two ways to control the output of a radiator, one is water flow, the other is fan speed, they both will in turn control the boiler output due to return water temperature, but mixing the two together could cause problems.

You can get a triple panel 700 x 600, or the Classic Compact 900 x 600/700. Much better output, not cheap though.
