In my bathroom I have an old single panel radiator(1970s) No Fins.
It is 480mm wide x 760mm high.
I want to change this to a towel rail.
The current rad heats the bathroom well & I don't to have any less heat output from the towel rail.

I've looked at various websites and it seems that for the same size rail different makes have significantly different heat outputs.

Can anyone suggest which make is best ie gives most heat output for its size?

I'd like to have a Chrome rail.

Go for the largest size possible.
The Quinn crystal range has outputs up to 864 watts in chrome or powder coated.

That's 1.730 tall by 0.6m wide.

And about equivalent to a 0.6 x 0.6m single convector.

Of course when you hang towels on it the output reduces.

A towel rail is exactlt that a rail for heating /drying towels , if it is covered with towels it wont heat your bathroom, you do get a combination style that has a radiator to heat the bathroom and a towel rail ladder above it for towels

Yep, biggest mistake I made when I first got into this work was taking the rad out parents bathroom for a fancy looking towel rail, there simply not made to heat a room, their made to heat towels.
