Radiator Tails & PTFE Tape

When fitting radiator tails into rads, does anyone have a 'magic number' of wraps of ptfe tape round the tails, that works for them?

Or do you go by sight?
Or do you use a different method?

I use gas PTFE about 5 wraps but as you said 'looks about right'

I find it depends on how well the threads fit together, some are looser than others and need more tape. I go by feel and touch more than anything.

my formula is the house number divided by 5, then multipy by how many sandwiches left in my lunch box plus cups of tea made by customer.
if that fails then somewhere between 15 and 20!

depends if using multi wrap or single wrap .

if using the multi wrap stuff: about 20. plus a smear of lsx. the only place i use the stuff btw

if using single wrap: throw in bin, buy multi wrap

I used to use 10 wraps with ptfe, but do't use it anymore. I use loctite 55 for all my threads now.
