    Hi Guys,

Hope this topic is in the correct place, I have looked on various forums but can't find teh answer, so hope someone can help.

I stay in a 1 bed flat and the bedroom radiator wont heat up, has been like this for a few months now. To check if there was a blockage, I bled all radiators (5) in the flat, shut off the vales on them all apart from the bedroom and turned on the central heating at a high setting for 1.5 hours to see if any blockage would be flushed out, but still no joy.

When I look at the radiator in question, the thermo valve is on the left hand side and the right hand side has the (apologies if incorrect term) flow restriction valve.

The thermo valve was taken off and it doesn't look damaged, but even when the heating is on there is no heat in that side of the pipe whatsoever. On the other hand, the flow valve pipe does get a little heat when the heating is on.

The sitting room radiator is the furthest away from the heating system and you need to walk past the bedroom to get to the sitting room, so I think the issue must be with the valves in the bedroom - as I don't think the sitting room radiator would heat up if there was a blockage.

I'm no expert and I don't know the layout of the pipes under the floorboards, but I suspect the vales in the bedroom might be shot? Any ideas from anyone? I don't want to be lifting carpets etc unless I really have too. Thanks

Although you have removed the TRV head there still may be an issue with the pin stuck down or the lockshield valve on the other end may be closed.Check those out first.

More info - when the heating is on the TRV pipe doesn't heat up at all, but the valve pipe does, not much, but a little.

The TRV pin is ok, it moves up and down without any issue, I checked it there.

Is it strange that the TRV pin is ok, yet that side wont heat up at all?

The problem may be the valve at the other end from the TRV.
