My radiators are getting really hot and heating the water fine. However the last few weeks the rooms haven't been getting very warm. They only seem to take away the chill rather than actually heat the rooms.

I know it's been colder these last few weeks but it doesn't matter how long long i leave the heating on for, the rooms still don't get warm.

I've bled the rads and theres no air in the system. Any ideas why this might be? Any advice appreciated!

Shuttlewood,

This is the electrics forum.

You'll probably get more sense in plumbing - unless they are electric radiators. If they are electric then why don't you paint them black. Black radiates much more heat than white does.

See, try plumbing

Radiators too small for size of rooms?

Boiler not on for long enough?

Anything changed? How long have you been there, etc...

Yep its quite simple if the rads are really hot and the room is not getting hot then they are not big enough for the job . With an outside temp of minus 1 a properly sized rad(s) should get a room up to 21 degrees C in 1 hour

Search online for a radiator btu calculator (www.diy.com have a basic one somewhere), and look at the size of your radiators and compare with specifications of new rads (BTU output) of these sizes online (screwfix.com is a good enough place to start) to check for any shortfall.
