Hi folks,
I have a baxi bermuda back boiler, and last week I had the potterton programmer replaced with a Danfoss CP715. Now when I run the heating after 20 minutes some of the radiators are very hot, so i only run it for half an hour. This never happened when the potterton programmer was in use. Any suggestions, or am I going mad?

Yes, ive turned the stat which sits under the fire down to just over 1, and the rads are still too hot.

Changing the programmer will not effect boiler temperature. By changing the programmer, you are 'telling' the boiler to run, not how hot it is to heat water to the radiators.

James Frew engineer said that the new programmer was sending a better signal to the valve than the old programmer. current is current in my book. Thats why I think it's the boiler stat, but it will cost me £50 for them to come out to confirm this. IMO when the engineer fitted the new controller he should have tested the system, and not just seeing if the programmer lights up.

take it you haven't got a wall stat then ?

I've just got the stat under the fire which goes from 1 to 5, 5 for winter, and 2 for summer. mines is just over one at the moment

thats only a boiler stat which takes the temp of the water circulating the system.

get a room stat fitted that takes the temp of the room and shuts down the boiler when room up to temp.
a boiler stat won't shut the boiler down when rads are at room temp it'll just keep cycling on/off alday.

I don't know if one can be fitted. its auite an old system. I thought that the boiler stat would control the temp of the water in the system as you say, so it would stop the rads getting too hot?

yes you can

they will still get the room to a unbearable temp.
and the boiler just will keep cycling alday where as with a room stat set to
say 21 degrees it will allow the room/house to stay at that temp and be comfortable.
