hi

Anyone any idea why our radiators work perfect for a day or two then won’t heat at all then go back working.

we have gas central heating. It still heats up the water in the tank when we turn the heating on just sometimes it won’t heat the radiators

All radiators or just some? Son had a problem which he thought intermittent, what was happening was all the water went through just two radiators leaving rest cold until the TRV on those two started to close at which point it would go through the rest, because one of the two also heated the wall thermostat, no soon had it started to warm rest and it turned off anyway.

It’s all the radiators that don’t work.. then they will work fine for a few days then it will happen again.

hoping it is something simple rather that costing us a fortune

you have an unusual set up, first thing you need to do is increase the pressure in your boiler to between 1 & 1.5Bar when cold, I dont liek the look of your HW cylinder, not really sure what is going on there, you have a Combination boiler and a HW cylinder, not that unusual, but not sure why you have a CH expansion vessel connected to the HW indirect coil, looks like a complete bodge to be honest, and pressure is down there too, why you have a pressure guage there , I have no idea

Would I be able to bring the pressure back up myself or will I be better of getting a plumber out.

I’ve no idea why it’s like that either was here when we bought the house never seen one set up like that either

o reason why you cant do it yourself, very easily done and only takes a few mins, there should be a silver braided hose between to pipes below your boiler, but looking again at that monstrosity with the red vessel at the DHW cylinder, it looks like that may be some sort of Heath Robinson filling set up, try opening thet black round tap at the cylinder and see if the pressure gauge there rises
