Hi all,

First, my apologies if this post duplicates any other on here, I have had a good look for similar posts but want to make sure that my specific application will be ok.

My loft as a whole has been heavily reinforced. There is a central vertical column of 8x2 running from the centre of the loft up to the apex of the roof.

Surrounding this there is a frame of 8x2 at floor level, and another square frame of 8x2 at about half height.

The loft floor then consists of 2 8x2's running the length of the loft. Crossing these are 5x2's which appear to run through the central wall (semi detached house) and into next doors loft.

The joists supporting the ceiling are 4x2's and are 400mm spacing.

I want to raise the height of the 4x2's and have bought some 100x47mm joists which i intend to fix on top of these joists. I am then going to fill the gap with insulation and board over the top, thus making the loft all one level.

I have a diagram that I can email to people as it is difficult to explain the layout LINK REMOVED.

I am trying to make sure that I am not going to overload the existing structure with the new joists and boards.

Many thanks

Dan
