Hi, could someone please tell me the easiest way to find out how much ram a motherboard can cope with.

The easiest way is to look in the manual that the motherboard manufacturer supplied with the motherboard.

If you don't have that, then look on the manufacturer's web site.

failing that, crucial have a great website that will tell you the max you can utilise along with other useful info

Yes, as Tim says, the Crucial website is very good. It has a utility that you can run which tells you the maximium the mobo can have, what type it is, how much you have installed and what you can install.
